Quarterly Lake Management Update this Wednesday!

This Wednesday we will have our final Lake Management Quarterly report of 2022. In this report, we will get an update on the following information: days that each lake was within their range for the year, updates on dam management strategies, progress reports on sediment removal to improve flow and lakes levels vs weather patterns.

As of November 1st, the goal is to maintain lakes between their winter minimum and summer minimum levels. You can find all the details on our Lake levels and dam management strategies here:

Even though the flooding of 2018 might not be in the forefront of our memory, we have been working methodically and diligently to increase our resilience to future flooding as we adapt to a new climate reality.

We have focused on fully funding sediment removal to move 1 inch of rain through the watershed in 4 days rather than 7. I added money in budget cycles for land purchases to keep water where it falls and out of our lakes. I also worked with staff to maintain a history of operational dam changes so we can report better on how we are managing the lakes as a chain.

We will also hear from the Wisconsin DNR on PFAS contamination and monitoring. I am still working to get the contractor who did a PFAS remediation pilot to report to the committee and that will happen in the near future.

I encourage everyone who is able to attend the meeting in person or virtually:
